The Harris Centre Applied Research fund was fund administered by the Harris Centre, open to faculty, graduate students and staff interested in applied research in Newfoundland and Labrador. The fund supported creative, relevant, applied research projects in Newfoundland and Labrador. Funded projects spanned a multitude of research disciplines, all aiming to address a regional development and/or public policy issue in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The objectives of the Applied Research Fund were to:
1.Provide research evidence to inform policy making or to assist community groups in their localdecision-making;
2.To increase faculty research in regional policy and development and to incorporate communityneeds in research projects;
3.To make a difference in the lives of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
In the ten years that the Applied Research Fund was active, 91 projects were funded over $1,000,000 to help address regional development and/or public policy issues in NL.
