Atlantic Aboriginal Community Data Collection on Economic Development - Call for Aboriginal Researchers
The Atlantic Aboriginal Economic Development Integrated Research Program (AAEDIRP) will be conducting a community data gathering project early next year and is seeking expressions of interest from Aboriginal researchers who might be interested in participating.
Applicants must be Aboriginal community members from the Atlantic region and ideally would have community-based research experience in quantitative and qualitative research. Ideally applicants would also have a Masters degree.
Specifically we are looking for the following:
Understanding and knowledge of First Nations communities in Atlantic Canada
Understanding and knowledge of research methodologies and processes particularly participatory community-based research
Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods conducting interviews, compiling and analyzing data
Computer literate and experience with Microsoft Office, Excel in particular
Experience organizing meetings and workshops
Experience working independently and as part of a team
If you possess the desired qualifications, you will be invited to participate in a research design workshop at the end of November as a starting point. The research project would start in January 2012 and run intermittently for approximately 8 months to a year. Researchers will be expected to be able to work flexibly over the duration of the project.
You should have your own computer or access to one, and be able to work from various locations.
