Alex Millar's Art that recorded the forest fire of 1961 in Newfoundland

Description

Millar spent 3 months in 1963 painting the devastation of the forest fire that that swept across 3200 square miles of Newfoundland. There at lot of paintings across Canada that were made at this time and on into the future of his lifetime. I thought that an arts student may like to take this story on as a thesis. Bowater Pulp and Paper Mill funded this project. The Toronto Globe and Mail Sept 26 1964 has an article about this show. I am a senior citizen but Knew Alex well and think this would be an interesting project to be done in memorial University.
