There is a need for some sort of a partnership between Memorial, public libraries and possibly private partner that would allow seniors to access educational program that would help them become more comfortable with mobile devices.
The list is endless for the computer technology that is commonplace today, and we presume that everyone knows how to use them. However, for many seniors, it is very daunting and overwhelming to learn how to use computers, smartphones, tablet, etc. The challenge is greater for seniors in rural communities, who don’t live near centers or organizations that may offer training. Also, with families no longer staying in the same communities as their parents, seniors no longer have their children, grandchildren or other family members to turn to for help. There is an opportunity to develop a training program specifically for seniors who want to learn how to use technology.
