The Harris Centre was approached by the Exploits Valley Economic Development Corporation to help with a project to bring students from the region Memorial for a week-long series of workshops and activities which focus on business and economic development.
From that project, EVEDC stated they would like to explore the possibility of bringing high school students from the region to Harlow for a learning vacation. This project would involve working with faculty who have experience teaching at Harlow, the Go Abroad office at Memorial, and Harlow Campus. The project will see coordination between EVEDC and the local school with Harlow Campus to deliver a program and travel itinerary for the students.
Both the on-campus business program and the travel to Harlow will focus on business and community economic development. As well, both with heighten students' awareness of issues and abilities/skills as they prepare to enter post-secondary education. The experiences will also give students a taste for life at Memorial University and Harlow studies.
