Objective:
To create a program to educate and recruit students to Memorial University from the Great Northern Peninsula.
Background:
There has recently been a shift towards an emphasis on the value of skilled trades as a career option. The message being sent is that trades can get you a well paying job right away, while finding a job with a university degree could be more difficult. There needs to be a better method for communicating to young people the value of getting a university degree so that they can make the most informed decisions about their future.
Roles for Memorial University:
The Centre for Career Development and Student Services could come up with alternative methods to communicate to students in rural areas the value of getting a university degree.
