Bio
Dr. Bruce Quinton is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Dept of Ocean & Naval Architectural Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His expertise includes ship hull structural response to extreme/accidental loads (including sliding loads); numerical simulation of ships and ship operations in ice-infested waters; and advanced material characterisation and behaviour of Arctic shipbuilding steels. He is the Chairman of the V.1 – Accidental Limit States Committee of the 21th International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress. His novel experimental and numerical work related to moving loads on hull structures was awarded the 2013 Vice Admiral E. L. Cochrane Award from the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.
