Lay Summary
I was hired by the community to interview residents and compile their oral histories into a text. I visited the community three times (for five to seven days each visit) over the summer of 1998 and conducted interviews about the folklore of the area.
My work focused on customs, food ways, occupational work, leisure activities, etc. of the area. More specifically, I spoke primarily with older residents of the community, often about the fishery, the educational system, and the significance of religion, holiday activities, and the changes they had seen over the years. I compiled the information into a manuscript, which I presented to Doreen Hart at the end of the summer.
