The Leadership of Service

Lay Summary 

This essay develops the idea of leadership for academics, based on experiences at Memorial University and suggests that leadership should be an expectation in all aspects of their work, namely teaching, research and service. Developing the leadership of service in particular is promoted for the direction and progress of faculty members’ careers. The author maintains that a general leadership ethos is both philosophically appropriate and practically advantageous in collegial organizations.
