In July MUN is partnering with Innovate Canada to welcome Canada’s global leadership in ocean
technology and sciences to St. John’s. Participants will spend 4 days in St. John's, learning about
Canada’s oceans ecosystem. "An intimate and exclusive opportunity for C-suite executives", Innovate
Canada showcases the ground-breaking work taking place across Canada’s oceans industry from
aquaculture & fisheries to ocean defence, from marine renewable energy to shipbuilding and much more.
Conference and Event Services will be hosting this delegation for a lunch at the Core Sciences building.
Participants will be given a tour of the facility, lunch, and an opportunity to network. We will take this
opportunity to captivate participants' imaginations, share some of the world-class artistic talent here in
Newfoundland, and help elevate the conversation around the role of art to share information, spark
conversation, and pique interest. Vessela Brakalova's work, 'It's in Your Blood" is a series of four mural
artworks, which are laid on the floor for audiences to walk around and consider. They are circular works,
meant to replicate the viewfinder of a microscope. The works examine the fact that microplastics are so
ubiquitous in our environment that they're even finding their way into our blood.
