The Canadian Acoustics Association is holding its Acoustics Week in Canada conference in St. John’s from September 27 – September 30, 2022. The conference covers topics that range from speech perception, medical and environmental applications to architectural and environmental noise control. We are planning a conference session “Topics in Teaching Acoustics” to discuss teaching methods and experience in teaching acoustics and this session would be of great value for high school science teachers (in Newfoundland and Labrador, Physics 2204 specifically includes sections on waves and acoustics). We will be reaching out to physics teachers in the community who would like to participate in this session. The current Catalyst grant is providing travel funds that will allow us to include participation from teachers in remote areas of the province who would not normally be able to take advantage of such an opportunity.
