The Centre for Analytics, Informatics, and Research (CAIR) and the Accelerated Analytics and Machine Learning (AAML) are both projects started in collaboration with Memorial University, IBM Canada, the Government of Canada, and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The two efforts, which are being led by Memorial, will concentrate on innovation and research in a variety of sectors, including genetic analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, image analysis, and scientific computing. With the help of CAIR's high-performance computers, which can analyze massive volumes of complicated data, initiatives like AAML will get new insights more quickly.
An investment of more than $18 million will go to Memorial. This comprises a four-year, $16 million in-kind commitment by IBM in hardware, software, and personnel. Through the Startup with IBM initiative, IBM will also give free cloud and development credits to early-stage entrepreneurs and startup businesses.
