This project is a collaboration between Union House Arts (UHA) and the Folklore Department to support research, documentation, and programming that explores ongoing traditions of creativity, labour, knowledge sharing, and community that shapes Port Union. Central to the project is the 2023 Folklore Field School, a graduate research methods course which serves as a means for collecting and documenting Port Union’s vibrant historic legacies alongside contemporary engagement with creative/arts initiatives. UHA and Folklore will spearhead community-wide engagement, including the Coaker Foundation, the Women’s Institute (W.I.), Heritage NL, as well as individual artists and community members, to facilitate workshops, internships, and public events.
