The Hub for the Study of Local Governance in Newfoundland and Labrador (SLG Hub), based out of Memorial University's Department of Political Science, is a new interdisciplinary locus of collaboration, research, student training, and relationships between MUN and other organizations.
The SLG Hub is premised on community-centred research that requires collaboration between academic researchers and local governments, governance-focused organizations, community groups, and interested members of the public.
This stakeholder consultation workshop will double as the SLG Hub's official launch event.
The objectives of the event are threefold:
1) to spread awareness about the SLG Hub and its objectives;
2) to gather feedback from stakeholders about what they would like to see as the goals and priorities of the SLG Hub as a community-centred research initiative;
3) to strengthen relationships and build networks among SLG Hub stakeholders.
The SLG Hub will host the event in collaboration with Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) and the Harris Centre. Participants will include representatives of municipal governments and other local governance organizations, members of the MUN community, including faculty, staff and students, as well as interested members of the public.
