The project "Refining and Validating Best Practices for Juvenile Production Technologies and Initiating an Aquatic Animal Health Surveillance Program," led by Dr. Javier Santander, focuses on the Spotted Wolffish (Anarhichas minor). It aims to advance the commercial viability of this species through land-based aquaculture technology. Key objectives include establishing a breeding program in Newfoundland, refining and validating operational procedures for juvenile wolffish production on a semi-commercial scale, and initiating a health surveillance program for aquatic animals. This project is a collaborative effort involving the Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation, Amar Seafoods Ltd, and Memorial University’s Department of Ocean Sciences. It aligns with regional aquaculture strategies and seeks to enhance knowledge and production capabilities for the Spotted Wolffish.
