The SmartAtlantic Alliance is a collaborative project aiming to enhance marine safety and operational efficiency in Atlantic Canada. Initiated by the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland's Centre for Applied Ocean Technology (CTec) and the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE) in Halifax, it involves setting up advanced ocean observation systems. These systems, like the Placentia Bay SmartBay and meteorological buoys near Halifax and Saint John, provide real-time weather and ocean data crucial for various marine activities. Richard Kelly, as a Senior Project Engineer at CTec, plays a key role in the engineering aspects of these sophisticated systems. The project represents a significant step in supporting safer and more efficient marine operations in the region.
