Preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s world demands that student affairs professionals develop wide-ranging partnerships in order to respond to the diverse needs and expectations students bring to their educational experience. The key to enhancing students’ abilities to effectively live in a rapidly changing, culturally complex world is to create socio-educational environments that inspire commitment, foster personalized approaches to learning tasks, and connect purposeful, practical activities to theoretical and academic content. Using examples of current partnership programs which creatively prepare students for promising futures, this presentation will provoke participants to consider alternatives for creating partnerships outside the institution (i.e. government, community, non-profit organizations, business), and within the institution (i.e. students, academics, administrative staff) so that students develop the capabilities and capacity to competently cope with the complexity of the changing world in which they live.
