Engaging Ideas: Transporting Research Into Practice
"Engaging Ideas: Transporting Research to Practice" will increase community and industry awareness of research being done within the Faculty of Business Administration and create opportunities in which members of the Faculty can engage with community and industry partners. At this event, two faculty members and one PhD student will discuss their research with industry professionals. Ginger Ke will present her research in the area of supply chain management, Ghazal Assadipour will discuss her research on transporting hazardous material and Mary Furey will talk about her research on virtual decision making in crisis situations. Industry professionals, faculty members, and others from the university community will be invited to engage in discussion about the research presented by these three individuals. The main objective of this event is to develop and foster relationships between researchers and industry associates by encouraging industry and community groups to contact the Faculty of Business Administration for potential collaboration to tackle problems or issues encountered by today's organizations. Such collaboration will help industry and will also allow faculty to participate in public engagement and produce academic output. We envision this event cultivating the conditions for faculty members to engage with the public and apply their research to make a positive difference in the community.
