Lay Summary
This symposium was organized by the Environmental Medicine Interest Group in the hopes of encouraging students, healthcare professionals, and the general public to engage with environmental medicine. The symposium consisted of a series of talks by experts and student researchers which covered a wide variety of local and global topics related to environmental health including pesticide use, ocean pollutants, seasonality of disease, well water quality, and more. We hoped to highlight the fact that environmental factors affect the health of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, and that we can all contribute to understanding and managing those factors.
