Dr. Geoff Rayner-Canham, Professor of Chemistry, and Ms. Yu-Ru Lee and Ms. Chaim Andersen, environmental chemistry students of the Grenfell campus took the excitement of chemistry to schools in Labrador. They gave presentations at the schools in Nain, North West River, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, and Mud Lake. The school students were enthralled and many expressed interest in taking chemistry courses. The lead presenter, Ms. Andersen, is an Inuk from Nain and she provided an incredibly positive role model for the girls of the schools. Funding permitting, it is hoped next October to visit the schools in all the other northern Labrador Inuit communities: Hopedale, Makkovik, Postville, and Rigolet.
