Lay Summary
Preserving historic structures requires traditional building skills often possessed by an older generation of tradespeople. In many cases these skills were passed down by parents, grandparents, and other elders who possessed building knowledge based on intensely local experience and years of careful observation. As the current generation of elder tradespeople retires so too does much of the knowledge they hold. This project aims to capture practical oral histories in order to inform the practices of a younger generation of builders.
