On October 19, 2019, MMaP presented a day-long festival celebrating Newfoundland and Labrador's rich folk song and narrative traditions. The event featured thematic sessions on "Captains and Ships" and "Ghosts and Gallows," as well as a traditional song circle, and concluded with an evening concert by prominent local folk singers and musicians.
On February 29, 2020, a follow-up event was presented by The Rooms in partnership with the MMaP Research Centre, Jim Payne (SingSong Inc.), and Eleanor Dawson. The concert featured local performers steeped in the ballad and storytelling traditions of Newfoundland and Labrador, offering audience members a chance to hear some lesser-known songs and stories from the province's vast traditional heritage.
*Recordings of both events will be available in the "Special Events" section of MMaP's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaC4_uqWAxL63WUPayn4VrheX_4ZZIc0k.
