The annual Creating Space conference of the Canadian Association for Health Humanities will take place (virtually) in St John’s in 2021. This conference examines the intersections of the arts and humanities with medicine and health professions’ education. Artists, writers, scholars, clinicians, and students are brought together to advance patient care through dialogue.
The arts community in Newfoundland and Labrador is vibrant and unique. By creating an artist-in-residence initiative at the conference, we will support the way the arts provide important opportunities for reflection on the medical experience. We will engage a local arts organization to develop an artistic response to content presented at our conference. The medium will be determined by the program’s artist(s), but may include a performance, a reading, a painting, or a plenary session.
