Irish and Newfoundland Cultural Connections

Lay Summary

In June 2007 the Canadian Association for Irish Studies (CAIS) annual conference with the theme: Secrets and Lies and/or the Irish in Newfoundland was held in St. John's. CAIS encourages membership from both academic and general interest groups. The conference will bring together artists, historians, literary scholars and others to celebrate Irish culture in Newfoundland. We will publish selected proceedings from the conference to mark the 20th anniversary of Feder and Schrank eds. Literature and Folk Culture: Ireland and Newfoundland (Memorial, 1977).
