Structural and Material Testing for Offshore Applications

Lay Summary

This project has focused on creating several new research and testing facilities in the Faculty of Engineering and at the Centrifuge in C-CORE. New strength test facilities (panel test frame, bi-axial reaction frame, high reaction walls, low reaction walls, dynamic test facility, cold chamber facility, high pressure hydraulic test frames and rams, data acquisition facilities, sensor packages, and web interface equipment).

The new facilities are already enabling several world-class research projects in the area of offshore engineering. The facilities have enabled tests of up to 1 Million lb force, with data acquisition rates of up to 250,000 samples/sec.
