The Centre for Social Enterprise endeavours to foster community engaged scholarship and to support cross-disciplinary collaboration in social enterprise.
The Centre for Social Enterprise hosted an event in December 2016 bringing faculty members and researchers from across Memorial University campuses together for an information sharing session on social enterprise. Preliminary discussions reveal that there is research activity at Memorial that is relevant to social enterprise. The objective was to support social enterprise research potential to bridge faculties and departments by capturing existing research activities and identifying potential for future research collaborations. Future events aim to foster the development of new research partnerships on campus and within the province through partnerships in the community sector. Researchers are already conducting work in the community and we seek the participation of community partners to identify research questions/projects with and based in the community. Moving forward, the Centre for Social Enterprise can serve as a platform to amplify what can be seen as a desired call for action on social enterprise research.
